Our cafes are the heart and soul of The Boy & The Bear experience. Here, we integrate with customers to create the perfect Colombian coffee experience, from the precise extraction of our coffee to the curated playlist of Colombian music and rhythms that celebrate our people and culture. It’s about fostering connections and ensuring every interaction is warm and genuine.

Working in our cafes involves attending to our customer’s needs, making sure every drink served meets our customer’s expectations and our company's standards. It also involves problem-solving to ensure smooth operations, maintaining impeccable shelf presentations, and being knowledgeable ambassadors of our passion for world class coffee sand exceptional brand experience.Our team members in this department are crucial in delivering an exceptional customer experience, making every visit to our cafes a memorable one.

Positions in this division:

  • Barista & Cashier: The face of our cafes, responsible for guiding customers through the menu, sharing our passion and love for specialty coffee through friendly conversations, and addressing customers' questions regarding product suggestions. Also maintains a clean and neat workspace at all times.

  • Lead Barista: Oversees activities behind the bar and ensures the quality of coffee and service. Responsible for coffee quality and customer experience, ensuring that coffee extraction, milk texture, and product presentation meet our standards before serving.

  • Lead Barista Senior: A natural leader with extensive experience in our company or the specialty coffee industry. Mentors baristas and maintains high standards while assisting the Store Leader with necessary operational tasks.

  • Store Leader: Manages the daily functions of the entire cafe, focusing on customer satisfaction and operational excellence. Ensures that every aspect of the cafe runs smoothly and that both staff and customers have their needs met.

Production

Production

The Production department is the backbone of The Boy & The Bear, making the Colombian coffee experience possible across all our cafes. This team is responsible for everything from green coffee buying, quality control, and green coffee selection for our coffees, to roasting and distributing to all cafes. They handle bagging, packaging, and ensuring our stores are well-stocked.

Staff in this department must exhibit high attention to detail, organizational skills, and efficient time management to deliver the best quality products. Their work ensures that every cup served is a testament to our commitment to excellence.

Positions in this division:

  • Head of Production & Green Buyer: Responsible for green coffee sourcing and purchasing, roasting, and quality control. Coordinates and oversees warehousing inventory, seasonal production needs, and weekly deliveries to all cafes.

  • Roaster: Ensures the demand at all cafes is met and coordinates the production of seasonal and limited items. Oversees quality control after every roasting session and is responsible for the production of in-house merchandise.

  • Production Assistant: Supports the production team in various tasks to ensure smooth operations. Maintains high standards to ensure every item produced in-house is impeccable and neat. Coordinates and is responsible for fulfilling warehouse orders every week.

Headquaters

Our Headquarters is where innovative thinking and strategic planning come together. This division is responsible for new product development, state-of-the-art packaging, store design, and enhancing the customer experience. Additionally, the Headquarters team ensures the smooth performance and care of our stores and cafes, while also focusing on the well-being of our team and staff.

This division includes:

  • CEO: Provides overall leadership and strategic direction, ensuring cohesion in branding, retail store design, and the overall customer coffee experience

  • Executive Administrative Assistant: Supports the CEO and Headquarters executive team by managing company projects and handling administrative tasks.

  • HR: Manages employee relations, organizational development, ensures compliance with standards, and maintains a healthy, safe, and supportive work environment.

  • Multi-Store Manager: Oversees the daily activities of our cafes, coordinating withStore Leaders to meet both staff and customer needs. As a great communicator and natural leader, the Multi-Store Manager ensures order, reinforces protocols, understands P&L, manages budgets, and navigates various economic dynamics to provide strategic solutions and ensure sustainable cafe functions.

  • Accounting: Handles financial management and reporting, payroll, quarterly budgeting, oversees expenses, and ensures our resources are allocated correctly.

As a Store Leader, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day organization of the store, with a keen eye for maintaining high standards of product excellence and presentation.

Leading by example with your highest work ethic will play a vital role in ensuring that our customers have a memorable and enjoyable experience by ensuring the entire team provides top-notch service and upholds our commitment to quality. Your primary focus will be ensuring that our store operates smoothly and efficiently, emphasizing product quality, customer experience, and store ambiance.

NOTE: It is important to note that this position should not be confused with the role of Coffee Director or Scheduling Manager as our Store Leader's focus lies primarily on product quality, maintaining an appealing store presentation, bringing the excitement for world-class coffee to the team and customers, as well as optimizing bar flow.


The Multi-Unit Manager and HR Representative oversee the final decisions on scheduling, hiring, termination, and the employee performance process. The Store leader provides input, coaching and recommendations for goal setting, corrective counsel and staffing needs.

You play a vital role in translating the company mission and values into actionable strategies, receiving guidance from higher management to ensure the success of the store.

Most importantly, you lead and nurture a team of baristas, fostering a collaborative environment that aligns with the mission of providing the best Colombian specialty coffee in an elegant setting. In the role of Store Leader, your primary responsibility is overseeing the quality of customer experience, ordering, inventory management, and overall operations of your designated store.

Responsibilities
  • STORE APPEARANCE
  • Ensure all cafe areas are clean and tidy (janitorial duties assigned and completed, including dishwashing, mopping, sanitizing bathrooms, food prep stations, plant care, etc.)
  • Keep shelves and fridges fully stock and well presented at all times - Keep products on the shelves aligned and organized by date.
  • Manage Raw material such as milk by date in order to avoid/reduce unnecessary waste.
  • Place weekly Merchandise inventory order. (to be submitted to the warehouse monday before noon )
  • Communicates every unexpected store task, repair, or maintenance to the Scheduling Manager in a timely manner and effectively.
  • Maintains optimal store appearance, FOH, and BOH.
  • LEADERSHIP
  • Makes organizational decisions at the store level and notifies the Muli-Unit Manager.
  • Implements Barista onboarding and training to develop competency and confidence in team members
  • Creates the staffing schedule for submission and approval of the Multi Unit Manager on time and to optimal staffing levels.
  • Effectively manages staffing plans and unexpected call-outs.
  • Provides ACTIVE COACHING to the team with an eye for continual development and a high level of performance in team members. Addresses poor performance with corrective coaching conversations in a timely manner (“See it, Say it”)
