The Grey Store

The Grey Store was shaped around a softer atmosphere.

Inspired by the Colombian páramos, the space carries a sense of fog, freshness, and quiet elevation. These landscapes feel open yet calm, where light is diffused and everything moves at a slower pace.

Soft Light, Grey Tones

We translated that into a palette of grey concrete tones that define the structure of the space. Clean, restrained, and steady. To balance this, lush greenery is introduced throughout. It brings life, texture, and warmth into what would otherwise feel too minimal.

We created a Space for creative work

"Coffee becomes part of that rhythm. Something that supports the process rather than interrupting it."

Located in Culver City, the store sits within a neighborhood shaped by film, design, and creative work.

The intention was to create an environment where people can spend time. A place that supports focus without feeling rigid. The layout, the light, and the materials all work together to create a space that feels easy to stay in.

Coffee becomes part of that rhythm. Something that supports the process rather than interrupting it. Grey concrete sets the foundation.

Greenery softens it. Plants are not decorative here, they are part of the structure of the space. They bring movement, depth, and a sense of natural presence.

Light moves gently across surfaces, never harsh, always diffused. The atmosphere remains consistent throughout the day. Calm, fresh, and balanced.

The Atmosphere

The grey store is designed for time.
Plenty of indoor seating allows for different ways of using the space. Some come to work, others to meet, others to pause. The environment supports all of it without needing to define it.

Positioned in Culver City, with close access to Venice Beach, Marina del Rey, and Downtown Culver. A creative hub, with a space designed to match its pace in a more grounded way.

Intro To Palette

The space is built around a softer, more diffused atmosphere.

Grey concrete forms the foundation. Cool, steady, and restrained, it creates a calm environment where light feels filtered rather than direct. It sets the tone for a space that feels quiet and focused.

To balance this, greenery is layered throughout. Lush and organic, it introduces movement and life into the space. The contrast between the cool greys and the natural greens creates a sense of freshness, inspired by the Colombian páramos.

Copper appears in subtle moments, bringing warmth into the palette. It reflects light gently and adds a level of depth without disrupting the calmness of the space.
