A Variety With Legacy
SL-28 remains one of the most celebrated coffee varieties in the world. Originally developed in Kenya for both resilience and cup quality, the varietal became known for its vivid acidity, layered citrus structure, and unmistakable aromatic complexity. In Colombia, however, SL-28 remains exceptionally rare.
Its sensitivity, lower yields, and demanding cultivation requirements make it a difficult choice for producers focused on volume. At Finca La Terraza, Juliana Guevara and Wbeimar Lasso chose a different direction entirely, approaching the variety with patience, precision, and long-term intention.
Built Around Experimentation
La Terraza operates with the intensity of a research project more than a traditional farm. Every lot is shaped through constant experimentation with fermentation, drying, and varietal handling. Wbeimar, a Colombian Cup Tasters Champion and agro-industrial engineer, has become known for designing multi-stage fermentation systems that challenge traditional expectations of Colombian coffee processing.
Juliana brings balance to that innovation through meticulous farm management and an unwavering focus on consistency. Together, their work reflects a deeply hands-on philosophy where every stage of production is monitored with extraordinary detail.
