Four generations of coffee craft
Nestled in the rolling mountains of Caldas, Colombia, Finca La Cristalina is part of a remarkable family legacy that spans four generations of coffee production. Operated by Luis José Valdés and his family, the farm is one of three estates belonging to Café Cuatro Generaciones, a project dedicated to preserving both the traditions and future of Colombian coffee.
Spread across 21 hectares between 1,460 and 1,790 meters above sea level, La Cristalina is more than a coffee farm it is a carefully stewarded ecosystem. Four hectares are protected as natural forest reserve, creating a thriving habitat for native flora and fauna while contributing to the health and resilience of the surrounding landscape. This commitment to long-term sustainability is woven into every aspect of the farm's operation.
Grown in harmony with nature
At La Cristalina, quality and environmental responsibility go hand in hand. Coffee is processed through an ecological mill where coffee pulp is composted and returned to the farm as organic fertilizer, helping nourish future harvests while reducing waste. Throughout the property, a diverse canopy of shade trees including walnut, guava, red cedar, and endangered black cedar creates a rich and biodiverse environment for coffee cultivation.
The result is a farm that not only produces exceptional coffees but also serves as a model for thoughtful and regenerative agriculture in one of Colombia's most celebrated coffee-growing regions.
